Jean M. Cavaliere, Esq. earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Fairfield University in 1982 and her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1986.
Jean began her law career as a commercial litigator with a North Jersey law firm, where she practiced for seven years. During that time, Jean faced her own challenges completing her family. These experiences inspired her to open her own law practice specializing in adoption.
Jean has provided legal counsel to birth parents, adoptive parents and adoption agencies in over 800 adoption cases. She has handled private, agency and interstate domestic adoptions, as well as stepparent adoptions and international re-adoptions. The scope of her practice is state-wide. She has appeared in 19 of New Jersey’s 21 counties on behalf of clients in adoption proceedings, has been a frequent speaker at adoption seminars and workshops throughout the State. Jean is a fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and a member of the American College of Assisted Reproduction and Adoption Lawyers.
Jean believes that an adoption attorney must not only be an expert in the law, but also a sensitive and intuitive advocate. Her hands-on, personal approach derives from her first-hand knowledge of the emotional and very personal journey of infertility and adoption.
Jean is the mother of two daughters and resides in Randolph, New Jersey with her husband, John, a partner in the Roseland, NJ law firm of McManimon, Scotland and Baumann LLC.
